Assistant Director

Hi, I’m Clarissa Sullivan.

I grew up in New York and moved to Virginia in 2017. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be in the teaching field. In high school I attended Richard R. Green High School of Teaching. Upon graduating high school, I took some early childhood education classes. When I first came to Deep Creek Academy, I was a before and after care teacher. In 2018, I became a teaching assistant for the four year old preschool program. With hard work and dedication, in 2019 I became the administrative assistant. In 2022, I received my Career Studies Certificate in Child Development. In 2023, I took on the role of the Assistant Director!

I would like to thank the director and the Board for seeing something special in me and giving me this opportunity. This is only the beginning!

Program Specialist

Jessica O’Connor

Hi there!

I grew up in the deserts of Southern California and moved to the Hampton Roads area in 2016 when my Husband got stationed here. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher in some form or fashion. I started my career in my freshman year of High School when I started volunteering for the Boys & Girls Club, realized how much I loved working with kids, and haven’t looked back since. Since then, I have worked with children from ages 6 weeks-5th grade, but truly found my passion for early childhood education when I worked for the Child Development Center based on China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station. From there I decided to get my associate degree with classes focusing on early childhood education and health sciences. After spending several years raising my two daughters, I decided it was time for me to get back into the work force, and since my children were attending Deep Creek Academy at the time, I decided to put in my application, and hope for the best! I started out as an assistant, then I became a lead teacher for 4 years, and then I was blessed with a promotion to Program Specialist.
